Because vs because of

Because + S + V + O

Because of + N/phrase = Because + S + V + O

“Because” and “because of” show the reason for an action.

Turn “because” into “because of” by turning “S + V + O” into “N/phrase”.

Ex:  I can’t go to school, because I’m ill.

=      I can’t go to school because of my illness.

=      I can’t go to school because of being ill.

 

Notice:

because = since = as
